One of the students from my first ever tutor group dropped by today, and it was lovely to see her. A friend once told me that people are in your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime, and to know that I was part of someone’s life even if only for a season, and helped her to become the strong, confident young women I saw today made me all warm and fuzzy.
I sincerely hope that I never forget the fact that as teachers we can influence the lives of our students and what we do with them in the moment can affect the outcomes for them over the next few years. I am not that naïve that I think being a good teacher is all that is required to change a students’ life, but I like to think that we can each play a part.
