…it only November!! I don’t mean that word … I mean CHRISTMAS!!

I drove through Stratford Upon Avon town centre with my husband yesterday and the Christmas lights were up … it was the 2nd November!! Personally, we don’t even think about the event until I’ve finished school and then the festivities can begin.  Don’t get me wrong, I don’t dislike Christmas, in fact I love it, I just don’t want to spend nearly 2/12ths (I know it’s 1/6th) of the year wishing for it to pass quicker, in anticipation of one day (1/365th of a year). Life is just too precious to do that, every day is important and I don’t even like to count down until the next holiday … I do catch myself doing it, but it always feels like I am wishing my life away, and living only for the breaks between teaching. 

Professionally the students think I’m a bit of a Scrooge as I have them working right up until the end … well, almost … my one nod to the whole event is that my last lesson is a Christmas Quiz in the last lesson (which I’ll put on the blog in the next week or so, when its finished) or I may do some Christmas themed lessons, about wrapping presents, or look at some functional skills type activities that involve them looking at the true cost of Christmas, from buying presents, and all the food, to travelling to visit all those relatives you see once a year, but only if they are very maths based lessons, and ideally fitting into something I would be teaching them anyway.
