EXCHANGE RATESI found a past exam question that was worth a whopping 7 marks in relation to exchange rates (unlike the usual 3 to 4 marks) and the context was mind blowing! Underneath it all though, the maths wasn’t that difficult and the story is similar, despite being much “wordier”, to ones that I’ve seen in questions by most exam boards since the change to include * questions.

This specific question ran to nearly half a page of narrative before the actual question was made clear, so I’ve had a bit of fun and made the attached worksheet (HERE) – basically I’ve broken the question down into a series of postcards which are all dated, and hopefully may help some students think about the ways they can break down the story of an exam question themselves.
