Twelve months ago, it was me walking away from a school that had been a massive part of my life and today I was reminded of what it is like, to be the one watching someone else doing the walking away.
Today Will left us.
This is a young man (he’s younger than me anyway!) who started out in teaching only a couple of years ago teaching Physics. Last year he pulled us out of a massive hole – our soon to be NQT decided not to take up his post before we’d even started – and said that he’d teach Maths. For this we will always be extremely grateful … as it turns out “he ain’t half bad” at it too and is moving onto another Maths department. We’ve turned him over to the dark side of Maths … ruined forever!
So Will, I know you read the blog (even though I get embarrassed when you mention it … I was listening .. honest!) …. Thank you. You have seen me at my worst and I hope also at my best and I hope that it hasn’t been too painful. Your laid back attitude and sense of humour has been great to be around (even if you are more intelligent than me!) – I’ve loved how you’ve just mucked in and without exception everything you’ve taken on we’ve known, will just get done. Thank you.
I know you will go onto to do amazing things and your new school are extremely lucky to have you.
Anyway … sentimentality over! Actually … I’m not that harsh as you’ll see there is a link …
You know how I’ve been saying all the exam board formula posters for the new GCSE are boring (remember students won’t have formula pages in the exam and have to recall so much more info?) Our boy Will (he is officially “ours” until the end of August!) has put something together this week for us and I love them! (He has said that its OK to share … I am not taking the credit!) There are 8 posters on the attached ( POSTER FILE ) that we are going to get printed onto A4 and laminated and put on the wall along the front of each classroom under the whiteboard (you know that empty space that never gets used? There!)
All we need Will if you’re still reading is for you to GET ON TWITTER!!
PS: Will, try to keep your new room flipping tidy! There is a plus point I suppose … at least I won’t have to go hunting for equipment anymore! You’ll be missed.
