I’ve edited this post to make it a bit clearer!
As you do … I have been looking at the DFE and Ofqual publications page of the .gov site (I used to read books before sleeping now I read this sh1te! .. no seriously!) and I came across something that at first had me worried but on reflection I think may be indicative of how some people really don’t understand the importance of the November sitting for you guys in FE!!
First things first … Don’t Panic.
So on the Ofqual “timeline” of the changes and how it affects certain year groups I came across this:
I suspect that it should be rewritten because there is not intention to remove November resits! In fact if you scroll down there is a mention of the new specification being resat by the current year 11 in November 2017 (so it’s definitely not gone!). It is also however missing an entry for year 12 – there is no mention that June 2017 is the last opportunity for a legacy resit for year 12.
Additionally I think that the year 12 section should have mention that year 12 in November 2017 will have an opportunity to resit AGAIN when they are in year 13 but it will be the new spec. I do wonder if they realise that some students still don’t get a grade C at the end of year 12 … hmmm but if they resit in November 17 will they need a 4 or a 5 to not have the fun of doing it one more time??
THE NOVEMBER RESIT ISN’T SCRAPPED so don’t panic!
Maybe it’s just me being dim but the wording definitely needs changing and an entry added for year 12 to show that June 2017 is the last legacy resit! For those of you that think I’m nit-picking … I don’t think its too much to ask that services paid for by the public purse get it right! Sorry but get over yourself.
The moral is that you shouldn’t scroll through government websites to help you sleep!
