IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR SUPPORT FOR THE 2018 PAPERS – CHECK THIS POST -> HERE

EDIT: F YOU ARE LOOKING FOR SOME PRACTICE PAPERS BETWEN PAPER 2 AND PAPER 3 …YOU MAY WANT TO CHECK OUT THIS POST
I bet that blog title got your attention … you may well be disappointed!
We aren’t producing “best guess” papers or predicted papers this year BUT what we are doing is more practice questions than you can shake a stick at. Me and Seager sat down and agreed a load of questions/topics and he wanted to produce a “Bumper” practice paper but they were mahoosive so I’ve produced 3 different papers (with mark-schemes and examiners reports) using Edexcel’s exam wizard for each tier and we’re calling them “between papers” practice papers … catchy eh?
Note that there is only one higher tier here at the minute as I want to add some more top end topics in to them so they’ll be up tomorrow afternoonish.
As usual .. they may or may not be useful for additional practice over the half term break and we’ll be emailing them out to parents, adding to the school VLE and printing and physically handing copies to some of our students!

On a personal note… I did it! I sat the exam today with our year 11. To sum it up: -> TOUGH but I knew it would be – it was pretty much as expected apart from the last question which was ridiculous but I loved it … I didn’t get it right though! I’ll write more about the experience on the weekend but it was brilliant to do … Now is not the time to mull over paper 1 we need to move on but I promise I will write it up ….. I’m knackered and need sleep!!
Thank you so much for this; and for everything that you do to support maths teaching generally! I wish I had half of your energy!!
Well done Mel, you are so brave! Thanks for the practice questions, saved me loads of work, don’t know how I would manage without all you do for us!
You are unbelievable! Thanks for this as a non specialist your blog keeps me going.
Looking at the Foundation and Higher papers from yesterday – what happened to ‘crossover marks? I cannot see any 🙁
there are .. scatter graphs, pythag, product of prime factors … haven’t looked properly
As ever Mel, you are a total legend. Thanks for doing this, Ailsa
Thank you Mel! This is a great resource to have!! 🙂
Is there the examiners report and markscheme for Higher Bumper set 1? The link seems to go to Foundation again?
Thank you so much for doing these, very useful!
done
This is great. Thank you! Did you accidentally upload the Foundation Mark Scheme instead of the Higher Practise Set 1 Mark Scheme?
Yeah will correct P5 when I’ve finished teaching for the day 😳
Thank you for these !
Awesome Mel took me 18 minutes to do the last question on P1
glad its not just me then!
Do you know of any places to find super hard questions like the one at the end of the paper 1?
I’ve not been able to find any other super hard questions like that within the scope of the GCSE 9-1 Edexcel Syllabus – especially not in the problem solving style? It’s really frustrating because I have some borderline 8/9 students that could do questions like the last but get intimidated – i want to give them some practice so they know not to give up! If you could point me in the right direction that would be greatly appreciated.
Try a core 1 or core 2 A level textbook
is paper two and three calculator then paper 1 is without?
They’re all just topics that didn’t come up in paper 1 and so because papers 2 and 3 are calculator I’d use one for all three papers
Thank you very much, on 3rd attempt after 20 minutes hammered final question. It is ridiculous.
Did not think rest of paper as hard as Mock papers that had been published, What do others think?
I thought the progression in difficulty made more sense than the mocks. It was as expected … no major surprises.
Love your comment style
Sorry if this is obvious – but are these for AQA or Edexcel?
Edexcel
im very disappointed mel 🙁
why?
im not sure which papers are calculator or non-calculator. Could you please tell me which ones are and are not. Thanks
all of the above papers were in preparation for paper 2 which is a calculator paper … so all are calculator papers if that makes sense!
Thank you so much this is helping my revision for the 2018 exams! 🙂
Are you going to do these for 2018?
yes I will
