I sometimes wonder what on earth some people are thinking and how some of the things I read about on blogs and twitter, would be received in my personal life. I’ve been married 20 years (I was 21 and 3 weeks after meeting we’d moved in together and 6 months later we were married!) and I like to think that … Read more
Collaboration: working with each other to do a task and to achieve shared goals. It is a recursive process where two or more people or organisations work together to realize shared goals – for example, an endeavour that is creative in nature – by sharing knowledge, learning and building consensus. In particular, teams that work collaboratively can obtain … Read more
I am lucky enough to have a set 1 in year 11 – I’m not going to discuss the merits/drawbacks of ability streaming – and I’ve been teaching them for 3 years now with practically no changes of students in that time, so you can imagine we’ve grown to know each other pretty well. This morning I’ve finished marking my year 11 mocks (well! I say finished … I mean I’ve marked the non calculator paper … the 2nd paper isn’t until Monday) and whilst overall they are pretty good, I’ve come to the conclusion that I need to do some deliberate practice with them to keep the “bread and butter” topics fresh … Read more

Don’t get me wrong I know they need to practice, (practice, practice!!) but sometimes its … Read more

Ok, so it’s not midweek, but I seem to have lost all sense of time which usually happens about this time of year, so it’ll be short and sweet! Two things: (1) Bread and butter starters have gone done really well – you’ll find them on the post below, and I’ve already added next weeks sheets. … Read more
Do you know the feeling, when you’ve had a discussion with someone and afterwards you manage to come up with all sorts of smart remarks, that you wish you’d said? Know that feeling? Usually follows shortly after an argument with someone? Before I go into my “wish I’d said that” moment let me give you the preamble: a few … Read more
