Graham emailed out today (do I need to say Graham Cumming? surely its obvious who I mean?) with details about the Edexcel (or is it Pearson?) 6th Mathematics conference at Warwick (my old uni! no .. he didn’t mention this in his email) on Saturday 2 July 2016. He also confirmed that Dr Hannah Fry, lecturer in the Mathematics of Cities at the Centre for Advanced Spatial Analysis at UCL and author of The Mathematics of Love, will give the opening address on Saturday morning. Exciting!!

Seager has been running a workshop for the last 4 or 5 years (I think!) … funnily enough the first one I attended 3 years ago as a delegate but didn’t go to his session (he was a bit miffed!). I also didn’t go on the Friday evening and heard all about the “northern” gals and their antics in the bar until the wee small hours (YES YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!!).

This years workshops look good and you will see some familiar names – here

For the last two years Seager and I have been a “double-act” running sessions all day Saturday (not sure how I got dragged in on that one!) and we’ll be doing it again this year. As a result I’ve been the consummate professional and on my best behaviour on the Friday evening but they have been brilliant fun. Suprisingly most people seem to arrive early and stay the night before – if last years “pass the parcel” is anything to go by, that alone is worth arriving early for, but this year they’ve also got an update on A Level Maths/Further Maths and Statistics planned too! (BTW I’m not being sarcastic about “pass the parcel” it was brilliant and I know Graham spent hours of his life wrapping it up!).

Want to know more details? check out the website .The cost for attending just the day (2nd) is £185 (with lunch included). Overnight accommodation, including evening meal and breakfast, is available on the evening of 1st July and with the full day of workshops (and lunch) is £220. OK so not free, but well worth the cost and some of the best CPD out there.

If you are going and are wondering what workshops to book (**flagrant promotion alert**) the feedback from our session last year was amazeballs (a clean sweep!) and we even got some special mentions along with Mr Barton!
