I’ve written about the delights you’ll find in the cabinets on Edexcel’s emporium before and recently Graham (weird how I only need to mention “Graham” and everyone knows who I mean!!) emailed out some new booklets that have been made for “DIY type” questions and also one which I know our students have struggled to get their head around – utility bills. There aren’t a lot of questions but there are enough for students to get the idea of what is involved …. the maths isn’t tough but I think it is such an unfamiliar concept to lots of students that they just don’t know where to start and I’m not sure it would warrant a whole lesson in year 11 so I’m emailing out to students to do over the Easter holidays. I love the fact that there are some real (and not made up!) utility bills in there too!
I’ve spent an hour or so working through them this week and I think that together with the previous one that was been done for recipes are great consolidation activities in the final couple of months (I have just tried to find them on the emporium to no avail but it is late – I’m writing this late on Saturday night to publish tomorrow as I’ve already posted twice today and I’m convinced some of you will get sick of me – anyway I’m sure that I’ll get directed as to where they are shortly and will come back and update this post so don’t panic!)
EDIT: They are found in folder “08 GCSE 1MA0 in drawer 04 Practice Papers and Questions”
Anyway you can find the emporium here and if you haven’t registered it is easy and simple to do, so stop faffing and just do it!
