Last year my Pearson days seemed to go through a stretch of calamities … it’s been quiet on that front until yesterday when …. just before leaving the house I went to put on my ONLY PAIR OF SMART SHOES (I’m not a smart shoe person … I do have 3 pairs of converse trainers and loads of pairs of boots though!!) to find that the bloody dog had chewed through the strap over the top. I had no choice to pair my new girly dress with a pair of timberland boots. Not sure I rocked the look to be honest!!
So whilst delivering a session to a group of schools in Dartford on behalf of Pearson, hoping that no-one checked out my shoes this happened-> During one of my tangents that I tend to go off on I happened to mention how some education has been subject to so many fads in teaching – like getting kids up out of their seats to place post-it notes with their names written on them, onto a massive progress arrow on a board at the front of the room and how I don’t like students out of their seats at the best of times. Guess what happens …. at this exact moment a delegate who was sat at the very front decides to get out of his seat and stand up and then proceeded to walk out of the room. The timing was perfect and along with the 60 or so, other people in the room I may have lost it a little in a fit of giggles. I think I recovered it quite well to be fair but then followed it up by trying to hi-five him when he came back in to not get the usual hand in the air back at me … I am just sooooooo uncool!!! The guy was really generous and took our giggling really well … hats off to you if you read this.
Overall though it was a great afternoon and a great group of people to deliver a session to on a Friday afternoon!
